[azurite] Azurite's blue color results from copper; most specimens have been found in copper mines. This specimen came from the Copper Queen Mine in Bisbee, Arizona. Most active between 1877 and 1975, the Bisbee mines yielded more than 7.7 billion pounds of copper. Their history reflects the West's growth from the late 19th through the 20th centuries.
