The clearly defined muscles, exaggerated horns, and strongly modeled face of this ibex are typical of Iranian sculpture from the second millennium B.C. This figure might have served as a fitting on a piece of furniture, perhaps a throne. It has holes for attachment on its head, chest, and feet, as well as incised markings on only one side of its body, perhaps indicating that one side was more prominent when placed in its intended setting.
