"The raw material for the porcelain body of this jar included china stone with enough iron to add a reddish yellow tint. . . . The iron in the clay and the glaze combined to produce a green glaze with an agreeable texture and soft color. The glaze appears darker where it has pooled in the grooves that I incised in the leather-hard form."
