[Vase] "I use a marbleizing technique to extend the possibilities of the Kutani clay and color scheme. I tint the clay different colors, roll the colored clay together, and cut patterned slices from the rolls. . . . In this piece I wanted to convey a sense of expansion. I wrapped gradations of blue around my favorite color, pink. I hope the finished pattern suggests blossoming flowers."
