In the 1980s, Yvonne Porcella, a self-taught fiber artist, began creating art quilts that reflected her fascination with bold colors. Her compositions are largely abstract, made up of strips, squares, and triangles of vivid cotton fabrics. Takoage was the first of Porcella's quilts designed to be hung on a wall. In this piece and others, she has produced dazzling combinations of saturated hues suggestive of strong emotions.
