[Stone Bowl] The inhabitants of the Ulda Valley in Honduras made exquisitely carved marble vessels. Most are cylindrical, like this example. This vessel has symmetrical panes decorated with the faces of two deities, serpent heads, and columns of scrolls. The figures of two birds form the bowl's handles. The positions of the handles and the deities suggest the four cardinal points.

The fine symmetry of this bowl's design characterizes all known examples of Uldan sculpture.
