Chris Evert was one of the top female tennis players in the 1970s and 1980s. Her silent and determined attitude --
along with her steady baseline playing style -- made her an extremely successful competitor. She won more than 100 titles.
Evert ultimately won over $1 million playing tennis and the Sports Woman of the Year Award in 1976 -- the first woman to accomplish either goal. She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1995. Courtesy of the National Museum of American History, gift of Chris Evert, 1979 |
