[Santo] Puerto Rican Catholics refer to this image of the Virgin Mary as "Our Lady of Montserrat." The image is inspired by a legend popular in northeast Spain.

In the small village of Hormigheros, Puerto Rico, devotees transformed the legend into a local miracle story. According to their version, commemorated by this painted sculpture, the Virgin appeared to save a humble rural man whose life was threatened by a charging bull.
