Frederick Douglass House

[Frederick Douglas house]

The Capitol Hill residence of African-American abolitionist Fredericak Douglass was the original home of the Museum of African Art, founded by diplomat Warren Robbins, in 1964. Fifteen years later the Smithsonian acquired the museum, and in 1987, relocated it in the new Quadrangle complex on Independence Avenue.
